An exciting day of events has been lined up for you. \n \nSet in the beautiful Woodbine Hall in Toronto\, this event will be a wonderful opportunity to meet and interact with the Who’s Who of AKMG Canada. Following a welcome reception we will have CME activities with our faculty members. \n  \n The CME event will be followed by a multi-course lunch and entertainment. One of the major outcomes that we hope to realize is the generation of new collaborations. There will be tables set up to encourage members interested in taking their current activities to the next level through effective and purposeful collaborations. \nDr. BIJU MATHEW\, MD\, FRCPC\n \nDr. Biju Mathew\, MD\, FRCPC\, Clinical Associate Professor in UBC and Consultant Psychiatrist will speak on his experiences writing a best selling book “Super 30”. Super 30 is an organization started by Anand Kumar of Bihar\, India. He has remained committed to his mission of imparting quality education to the economically deprived people. GEORGE\, MD\, FRCP(C)\, FACP\n  \n\n\n\n\nDr. Susan George earned her M.D. from the University of Toronto and completed her residency training in Internal Medicine followed by subspecialty training in Endocrinology & Metabolism. She joined the U of T faculty in 1984 and is currently a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine\, in the Departments of Medicine and Pharmacology\, a Scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health and a clinical endocrinologist at Toronto General Hospital. \nSince 2002 she has held the Canada Research Chair in Molecular Neuroscience. \nDr. George will be speaking on the topic: “From porcine insulin to SGLT2 inhibitors: we have come a long way in the management of diabetes mellitus” \n\n\nWe encourage you to bring your family and guests. Following a welcome reception we will have CME activities with our faculty members led by Dr. Salim Yusuf\, DPhil\, MRCP\, OC. \n \nDr. Salim Yusuf is an internationally renowned cardiologist and epidemiologist whose work over 35 years has substantially influenced prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. His large-scale studies involving several hundreds of thousands of individuals in dozens of countries have changed the way some of the world’s most deadly health conditions are prevented\, treated and managed. He is the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario / Marion W. Burke Chair in Cardiovascular Disease in McMaster University\, Hamilton\, Ontario. \nDr. Yusuf is  professor of medicine of the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine at McMaster University and director of the Population Health Research Institute (PHRI). He was appointed to the Order of Canada in 2013 and is a laureate of the Canadian Medical Hall of Fame. \n \n The CME event will be followed by a multi-course lunch and entertainment. His laboratory\, funded by federal and provincial agencies\, the Canada Research Chair program\, AllerGen National Centre of Excellence\, and Industry partners\, characterizes the types of bronchitis in airway diseases using biomarkers in sputum\, identifies mechanisms of persistent bronchitis\, and explores novel targeted therapies of bronchitis using small molecules and biologics. \n\nDr. Amanullah is Asst. Professor of Psychiatry and Consultant Psychiatrist at the Woodstock General Hospital. He is internationally recognized and has conducted several group sessions for physician associations.
